I just received this same message that the IRS was calling... This is officer Lauren Mathews from the IRS time sensitive issue and that I need to call 1-347-853-8699. This was a computer generated voice. Pretty sure this is a scam.
Received this phone call from Officer Lauren Mathew with the Internal Revenue Service. I am supposed to return their call before legal action is taken against me. Received this call on October 30 and today, November 2, at 9:00 am CST.
I received the same phone call about every other day. So, just for fun...I decided to call the number back. The person that answered the phone knew who I was. He said the IRS was taking criminal action against me and would I like to hear the charges? He said to NOT interrupt him. There were three (3) charges. When he got to the second charge I could not understand and asked him to repeat charge two. He got mad and reminded me that he told me to not interrupt him. It was all I could do to not laugh and hang up. He read charge two again and then I asked him to repeat charge three. He freaked out, screaming, and hung up. Obviously a scam....

•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
