Yep, just got a voicemail from a super creepy sounding guy who was basically reading the beginning of a short story or something. It was just really bizarre. I don't want to call back or respond though because I'm sure that's the game. If you call back or text they know they have a verified number they can sell. My guess is that they do the creepy story thing because they can almost guarantee some sort of confused reaction.
I received a creepy [***] voice mail from this unknown number that went like this:
out of my car
the car i thought i was driving
in the middle of nowhere
in the middle of night
in the middle of your body
the wrong turns i took
and ended up somewhere
in a place I never expected
in a place i could not recognize
the wrong turns that took me somewhere else
the sky there
the sea there
in the middle of your body
in the middle of nowhere
in the middle of night
When I texted "Who is this" to the number, I received an automated reply that read, "Thanks for the message. Configure your number's SMS URL to change this message. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg and Data rates may apply."
I replied, "STOP" and received this message, "You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe."
So then I called the number and received a clearly automated voice asking me to reconfigure my SMS URL.
I didn't think I had any friends who would send me such a creepy [***] message, especially since I only have family and one friend in NYC, but I'm super creeped out right now.
