This number called and stated on voice mail, they will be suing me for some type of debt, in which, I have any knowledge of. They even threatened, to come to my home and office, and serve me some type of paperwork.
They called me too on my cell & home phone & used the same tactics you mentioned & wanted me to make arrangements to pay a collection that I had already resolved over 2 years ago based on the very limited information they were willing to give me about the account that is. I assured them I didn't owe anything and had a Paid in Full letter to prove it. The 1st person wouldn't even give me a fax # to send it to her and kept saying I needed to set up an arrangement or it would be released for court and have my wages attached. I argued with her that I would not set up any arrangement for something I KNEW I didn't owe and after this back & forth waste of time she hung up on me only to call me back and let me know that it was out of her hands now and it was being released with a "failure to cooperate" on my side and hung up again. I called back the main line and calmly asked for a fax # & rec'd it. I then faxed my letter. I got a call back from the same argumentative lady that I 1st spoke to and she said that the account # didn't match so it was no good. I asked her to then give me the account # it SHOULD be then so I can call up the original company I paid to get the letter revised to reflect the correct one - she said she could not give me any more information without me making a payment arrangement. I told her I refuse to pay a dime of something I do not owe and I thought it was ridiculous that she wouldn't even give me the chance to prove it. Her response was "good luck in court" & hung up on me again. Up until now, I had not received ANY notifications by mail or phone ever since I resolved the issue in 2012 that she seemed to have "enough" information on to try and collect from me for this matter nor has anything appeared on my credit report and I watch my credit for changes very closely. Usually when an account goes to Collection you get mail, calls & then shortly thereafter it is on your credit report. I have had NONE of these events and it has been over 2 years. This definitely feels like a scam. DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING. Deal ONLY with the original creditor that they claim you owe for.
They left threatening message aimed at my ex-wife - the divorce was 17 years ago. Obviously a collection agency trying to get money for debts written off by other firms or in the public record
