Voicemail left at 1:53 PM 4/8/16 from FL, USA. A man with heavy accent left the following nonsensical message: "I am calling regarding an enforcement action executed by US Treasury intending [tried unsuccessfully to pronounce my first name] attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional offense. To avoid initial appearance before a magistrate, judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 352-587-9708. I repeat, 352-587-9708. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you." Well thank goodness I have someone who is willing to help me through this trauma!
I got this call today, and for about 30 secs I was
Alarmed... checked quickly with my tax preparer who assured me it was a scam, and a poorly designed one at that. For one thing, I was told that 45 minutes after the call was disconnected an officer would be at my house to arrest me unless I "settled" my "debt" for $3500 via debit card over the phone. That was 4 hours ago and I'm still waiting for the police to show up. I'd be infuriated if I weren't laughing so hard at how ludicrous the whole thing is.
Same idiots have been calling me, and i KNEW it was bull$#it when they didn't know my name. Definitely a FLORIDA number, tried calling them back a few times just to give them $#it, but no luck getting thru.
