Same as above- received 2 calls about 10 minutes apart. Both left voice mail. First one from 917-201-7579, second one from 360-203-0029. My new landline phone has a 'call block' button that I've been using almost once a day- worth the price of a new phone!
THIS IS A SCAM......First,The US Treasury or IRS never never make calls. Especially a call to you that is a recording and when you call back they answer in a foreign voice: US treasury. if you have ever tried to get ahold of the IRS, you know you get an automated system and put on hold for days. So to have someone pick up the phone immediately is a sure sign of a scam. Trying to get you to pay or get your personal information. I always say to them: The US treasury never makes phone calls, who is this?" They will hang up and you will not get a call from that number again. It doesn't stop them. they just use another phone number. These calls are usually from the state of Washington or sometimes it will show as Washington DC. Just block the call.
By law, a written notice has to be sent. This is an attempt to collect a debt. you would already have received many many letters. no calls, maybe a letter saying they are placing a lien against something but never a call like that. Its a scam and unfortunately many people are falling prey to this and giving personal information and/or paying for something they don't owe, out of fear of the IRS.
If you see the number, they are usually from Washington state. They will continue to call from that number until you block them. or call the number back and say, The US treasury doesn't make calls, so who is this. That will stop calls from that number. lol
