Totally a bogus scam call- rude and trying to lie about tax audits- Don't call back - Not legit- they will- the IRS would be in Washington DC- Not Washington State- sheriffs would never be involved in a federal inquiry - Totally a scam....be careful!!
I heard the same automated message as the others who've mentioned it in the comment above. I do not know how they got my cell number. The origin shows as Long Beach, WA. If you were truly under investigation by the IRS, a registered mailed letter would be sent to your address on your tax return. This is definitely a scam.
They called my wife claiming to be the IRS. so I returned the call, a foreign guy answered. He wouldn't answer any questions he'd only hang up so I called back several times and was hung up on each time. A TOTAL SCAM.
