I keep getting this call but for some reason, it always comes as a missed call that never rang. I know it's not for me, but I call them in attempts to let them know that they are calling the wrong person. Seems this is a scam anyway (Mr Child's mailbox if full) but I was concerned that if this was an actual person, that they would be in a major pickle. My ID is protected including my passport & medical number but not everyone is protected.
Don't bother calling them back. These are crooks pretending to be a debt collector. There is no "major pickle" involved. There are no criminal charges involved with not repaying a debt. The hot check/bad check/bounced check is a routine these crooks use to scare people. They call anyone and everyone but the intended victim, hoping to create panic and embarrassment. Your number was somehow associated with this person or possibly someone with the same name as the person they are intending to extort money from.
