This guy says he’s from Google and wants to update my ad. I don’t have a Google ad. Sometimes when I answer there is nobody on the line. On call back there is a really bad recording with instructions to be removed from the call list, which I followed. I still get calls.
Asked me to press 1 to update my google listing. This is NOT Google! Hung up. Attempted to report to CRTC here in Canada but their website says business numbers are exempt from our "do not call list." They are calling repeatedly I guess I have no option but to live with it.
Received this second call earlier today for a business directory search listing...get quite a few of these calls from Dec-Feb trying to fool you into believing you had a prior listing.
These robo calls are from scammers trying to sell you their service in upping your company name in internet search engines.
THEY ARE NOT FROM GOOGLE OR ANY OTHER SEARCH ENGINE COMPANY!
They charge you a fee to have their web-bots spam search engines with your company name. This causes your name to come up higher in the list of hits.
However, search engine companies see these spamming bots and remove their hits and possible black-list you.
If you get a robo call, do not press any number, just hang up and block their phone number.
Do report them to the FTC.
