If DNC registration is "absolutely useless", you might as well drop your number today. Just don't come back crying next month when all the domestic sales callers who were avoiding you suddenly realize it's Open Season on your phone number.
What is "obviously" true in your experience is not everyone's truth. I don't get these credit reprice calls ... ever! Annually I get very few scam calls overall. My number has been DNC-registered almost since the federal program began, but I go further and treat my phone number like the valued commodity it is to every list compiler and data broker in existence ... which is to say I don't give it up easily and I force commercial entities to respect my privacy.
The absence of Telemarketing Sales Rule enforcement is a popular myth. Masses of complaints have helped the FTC choke off several credit reprice scammers in the past several years. Some have seen assets frozen and a few have been sent to prison. When you're ready to quit griping and become part of the solution, file complaints with the FTC and attorneys general. Individual action through a TCPA lawsuit would be a strong suggestion, if anyone manages to corner one of these scammers long enough.
Received calls from 1(360)322-6663... The message was to get a credit card. I am a victum of identity theft, and have started receiving these calls. I am working with Transunion and Equifax DAILY.
I got a call from them yesterday, and told the guy I am on the do not call list. He told me that I haven't paid to be on the do not call list and to stop lying or bad things will happen to me.
Today, the guy I talked to told me he was with American Credit Assistance. After he told me that I asked if he knew I'm on the do not call list. He hung up.
