As usual, I received a call with no one on the other end. Extremely annoying but I doubt that it will ever stop because the calls are originating from outside of Canada and therefore, are not obligated to adhere to the 'Do not call' list. I've been told that in most cases, that numbers are auto dialed to establish active numbers. This is accomplished when someone answers the call. The caller can then sell your number to other telemarketers.
Has anyone tried pressing 1 and then telling the idiot who answers that they called a residential #? I got a call today (and not the first call from them today) and I pressed 1. The toad who answered asked, "Did we reach a residence?" in reply to my request to remove our # from their call list. When I told him that he had reached a business, he said all he had to do was update some information with the business owner and the calls would stop. Nothing like a little blackmail. Next time they call, I'm going to try to tell them that they reached a residence. I have a feeling they will just hang up on me again.
