If you get the message that it is disconnected or not in service...it means the number is being spoofed. That means that the criminals could be calling from anywhere in the world. Their only aim is to get credit card info from you....don't fall for it. Not worth it to call them back because there is no one at the end of that number and no point in trying the "press 1 (or whatever...) to be removed from the list". they have no intention of doing that. They keep calling and calling hoping some business has an employee who is ditzy enough to authorize the search engine crap.
As for these scammers, perhaps their mothers love them..well maybe a few of their mothers do. Generally, I think their families can't stand to be around these scum anymore than we can.
These people phoned today - fortunately, they phone my number ( VOIP ) which is forwarded to my smartphone. My smartphone has a feature which directs selected calls direct to voice mail. These scammers had phoned before and were sent direct to VM on first ring. They left no message.
Keep them on speaker for 20 minutes with lot of hum...... really ... could you repeat that.... I'm sorry what was that??? Oh really and how does that work? I bet you anything if you do that twice with ending your call with," thank you for allowing me to waste your time. We can do this again at your convenience."
In other words make them NOT want to talk to you. They are use to rudeness and curses but they really get aggravate when you waste their money
