after trying to get back to them they have now either blocked my nbr or have dropped this 360 362-4730 altogether.
I wish I knew for certain if they are really in 360 ( Bremerton ) or if that is just a parody, they need to be found
rec'd call from this number. recorded message states: "Hello, we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially a final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Services. The reason of this call is to inform you the IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately our department number 360-362-4730. I repeat, 360-362-4730." called the number back and all it does is rings and rings.
Total scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. The Indian/Pakistani scammer/extortinoists become very abusive when they find their scams are not working.
IRS does not file lawsuits. Nor does it cold-call. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
My brother just got a similar call, a voice mail message left on his cell phone telling him he owned the IRS money and to call this number right away. A person who he could barely understand told him something was wrong with his W2's for 2008-2012, that he owed money, and he was subject to being arrested within the next 3 hours. My brother was quite shaken by this call.
