Got a call from this number out of Port Townsend, WA. The following recorded message was left on my voicemail - "To get more information on this case file please call immediately on our department number 360-390-5053." No case number was left. When I called back the number a person answered the phone and stated "Hello you have reached the IRS, how can I help you." I called it multiple times and the same foreign speaking male answered the phone.

I received a call from this number at 8:32 AM ET today.  The call was a recording that said, "This is your final notice.  The IRS is filing suit against you." and then instructed me to call the number back.  When I called back, an accented male answered saying, "You've reached Internal Revenue Service.  How may I help you?"  When I told him I was calling in response to a phone call I received this morning regarding a lawsuit, and asked whom I needed to speak with about it, he asked for my name.  I did give him my name, but asked for his in return.  He identified himself as Officer Matthew Peterson.  I asked for his Agent number, and he provided 1HW652026 - which he repeated for me multiple times.  He asked again for my name, I told him I wasn't providing him with any information, and he said sharply to me, "OK, Daphne [My Last Name]," - I'm assuming he got this via Called ID "I am issuing a warrant against you for defrauding the Internal Revenue Service!" and hung up on me.

Now, since the idea of being sued by the IRS IS scary, I did call them to confirm that I'm not being sued and it IS just a scam call.  It is.  They also directed me to submit the information directly based on the guidelines on their site at https://www.irs.gov/uac/Current-scams-and-phishing-sites-posing-as-the-IRS.

No case # or reference #. If I didn't call them IMMEDIATELY, they would start legal action against me.......

I received the same message on my voicemail this morning, so it seems that this SPAM call does not require a live person to answer the call in order to deliver the fraudulent message that the Internal Revenue Service will be filing a suit against the caller. FAKE call at every level. Report and then ignore them.
