These scumbags called and the machine picked up. A man's voice spoke into the recording and said, "Is John there" I picked up and said "yes who's calling?" and they hung up.
That sounds like some scammer trying to verify if the number matched the name. Without realizing it, I gave them the information that they were after. This concerns me. I'm thinking of calling them back since they've already verified my number and trying to find out what this is about. It's probably about identity theft.
On another website, National Phone Number Registry http://npnr.org/360/464/1494/3604641494.html several people said the same thing, but no one reported anything about a police organization but they did have this warning posted:
"Warning! This phone number has had numerous complaints. As always, use care and when possible, DO NOT give out personally identifiable information over the phone, such as SSN or bank account or credit card numbers. See comments below for more details".
This claims to come from Olympia WA. They were put on my block call list 2 weeks ago. Seems these knucklehead's are calling about every week then they hang up. That getting a lot done.
Yeesh, the data miners are at it again - call rang through to voicemail, no message left. Didn't get to the phone quickly enuff to use the Big Red Button so I'm manually adding it to the 200+ numbers on my call blocker. Slowly but surely my phone is getting quieter, this is the first scammer/data miner to get through since last week, before Thanksgiving even.
