Received a call today - when I picked it up, say 'hello', loud electronic sound and the call is dropped.
BTW heard of a scam used in France - when you dial back on a number you don't recognize it's a $10/per/minute call, and they try to keep you on. So, don't dial this 360 -number. Let them dial you, then hang up when you work it out.
Received a call today from an Indian guy claiming to work for Microsoft's Windows support team. The call says it came from Washington Sate in the US. In a thick accent the guy said I had a virus that Microsoft had noticed and wanted to take over my PC to fix it.
I treated this request with the contempt it deserved. It's is a total scam with criminal intent.
Caller (with thick Indian (sub continent) accent said they wer calling about my computer at home. They were from Take One Computers. They said they were calling from Sydney (Aus). I asked what time it was in Sydney, and the person couldn't tell me.When I persistently asked about the time and where they were from I got another person, an apparent "Supervisor" who gave me the incorrect time in Sydney. When I told her this she told me that she wouldn't "put up with this crap" and hung up.
Just had a call from this same number from a lady with an Indian accent claiming I had downloaded a virus on my PC and wanted me to turn on my computer so that she can help me fix it. Very persistant and rude. Same thing, claimed she was calling from Sydney but the number display on my mobile said otherwise. Beware, it's a SCAM!
I received a call from this number - I'm in NSW Australia - no answer then a loud beep followed by recorded voice thanking me before disconnection...?? Odd.
Got a call from a male with strong indian accent saying that someone has hacked into my windows and i'm to do a few things. Told them not to call me again.
