I totally agree, the Do Not Call list is practically useless and filing a complaint with them (and I have filed dozens) brings no action whatsoever. The jerks just keep on coming . . . . I sure wish we had a Congress with gonads who would write legislation to protect citizens from unwanted callers. They are even calling on my cell phone, costing me minutes! My carrier says federal law prevents them from blocking such calls. The technology is there, but the laws are not. Thank you Washington elected officials, failed the public AGAIN!
Many 360-474 numbers being used to make random calls in recent months. These are probably all owned by a company that includes 'Verifying' as a service (if not its entire service). Look up "commercial telephone number verifiers" on the Web and you'll see this is a commercial enterprise. They get customers who seek to verify numbers for them for whatever reason--hiring, indebtedness, personal issues. There is probably no fee or a nominal fee when the number is submitted and put on the verifier's call-list; rest of cost to requestor probably comes if you give information about yourself, push a key (1 or 2) on your phone keypad to get calls to stop (really you've conformed someone was there at a particular time and date, etc.)
RULE: don't answer calls you don't recognize or didn't invite. Same yourself time and agitation.
Got a call from this number. Said it was from the "Political Survey Group". I think they're using political surveys (since political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call list) as a cover for something scammy. I Googled "Political Survey Group", and other people have said that after you do the survey (which is apparently pretty crappy and repeats the same question three times), they ask you to stay on the line to win a free cruise for two.
I've gotten other calls from different phone numbers of the same Political Survey Group. I keep adding their numbers to my phone's reject list, but they just keep calling back from different numbers.
