Just got a call from "Ann from Political Opinions" (7:20 pm, July 2/12). I didn't bother tracing the number as our local telephone provider now charges $2.00 for the privilege. (I'm in British Columbia.) But from the comments above it is likely the same outfit.Unfortunately, there is no way for Canadians to register with the US DNC list, although by the sound of it, it wouldn't be of much use anyway. Our (Canadian) DNC list seems to work up here, aside from the numerous exceptions so generously provided by the CRTC. These databases should be linked, although that would still require our respective governments to "grow a pair" and start prosecuting the offenders.
Received a call from this number just now 05/17/2012 11:21 am 360-474-3971, call from Washington.
I dont know anyone there didnt bother to respond.
If it is someone that I know, they will leave a voice mail.
I love the Caller ID....
Did not recognize this number, so I didn't answer it. Instead, I come here first.
I have no interest in political surveys. Now that I know what this number is about, here's what I do:
On Android phones, create a new contact in the address book. Name this contact "Blocked Caller".
Go to your address book and click on this new contact. Hit the Menu button and choose Options. Check the box that says "send calls directly to Voicemail".
While this won't actually block the caller from calling again, it will keep you from having to hear your phone ring everytime they try to call. 9 out of 10 times, they don't even leave a voicemail, so all you have is a notification that you have a missed call from a "Blocked Caller". When you see that, hit the "Clear" button and move on.
Now, everytime you get an annoying caller such as this one, just add the number to the Contact "Blocked Caller" in your address book. The next time they call, you won't even hear it ring. Doing all of the above has worked great for me so far. It's just the first time they call, I hear the phone ring.
Just got a call from this number on my T-Mobile cell phone that I recently ported from AT&T. Saw something in the news about AT&T's phone database being hacked into. Don't know if this is related or not. Did not answer.
On the Do not call list, but still got this call on my private line. Nobody has that number but family, so they must call every combination of numbers. I answered the call and it started a ring-back to them and then became a busy signal. I hope someone gets a name and reports them to FCC.
