You are 100% correct Michelle. If you go online to irs.gov like I did after my calls, these scams are outlined in detail. I also spoke with an IRS agent at 1-800-829-1040. The woman there also assured me the IRS never will call and threaten jail time, fines, etc. Everything they will communicate to a taxpayer is always done first via US mail. They may follow up on that letter, but never call beforehand randomly on cell phones. These people likely work out of a call center in another country, which probably explains the bad technology. I hope this post will stop somebody from making a payment to this bogus scam. Just hang up, this is not a legitimate call.
I'm getting calls from this number and they told me that I owe the irs money and that's because I was sending money to over seas to my father to help him by Western union and they told me that I have penalty amount of $ 1000.00
And if I don't pay it immediately they will report on me to the local police in my area where I live and I'll get arrested I can't just understand why these people do exist in this, world
I received a call from an unlisted number. The person on the line said I was chosen to receive a government grant for $9000 and to call this number to claim it today.360 474 4767. Government doesn't call to give free money. So obvious a scam.
1-360-474-4767 - I received a call with a recorded message telling me that I needed to call them back as they were the IRS. When I did, the foreign man on the other end of the phone threatened me with the Sheriff if I didn't cooperate with them that it was the IRS and they had called me from Washington. I told them I thought it was a scam and he insisted it wasn't and that he needed my full name so he could look up my file!
