Got a call this afternoon. Didn't answer. But my answering machine has 30 seconds (or however long it records) of static noise. My caller ID says: Bremerton WA. Washington state?
Man, I've had a slew of new numbers contacting me in the last week. For a while there, these crazy calls let up. Now they're back with a vengence (sp?). In the last 3 days, I've blocked 5 new numbers!

So I called this number back (blocked it first, of course). A man with a Spanish/Mexican accent answered. He must have said "hello/hello?" 12 times. I didn't make a peep. Finally he hung up.
Wasted that guy's time.
It's best not to do callbacks on numbers you do not recognize.
1) the number could be spoofed by a scammer and could be someone's residential number
2) you need to check the area code to make sure it isn't going to a foreign country like Jamaica (876)
that will cost you extra - a whole lot extra
3) if it is a scammer's real number they will record the fact that you returned the call and let other scammers
know it is a working number with an overly curious person who calls back.
