So I called this number back (blocked it first, of course). A man with a Spanish/Mexican accent answered. He must have said "hello/hello?" 12 times. I didn't make a peep. Finally he hung up.
Wasted that guy's time.
I just received a voice mail that said I was being sued by the IRS. I called back and a woman with an East Indian accent said IRS and asked for my phone #. I hung up and googled the number. Glad to find out it doesn't seem to be authentic!
I have been receiving the same type of calls on my answering machine. I did try to call the number but no one picked up. I know the IRS does not handle things this way and believe this to be some type of scam. I shouldn't have called but was not thinking at the time. Then saw that there was several calls on my machine from same number and message. The last call more threating that I had better call this was my last chance.
I got a call saying " This is the IRS. We have been trying to contact you. This is the last attempt. You are being notified that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. Please call 360 525 3229 immediately."
Since this was the first call, I was skeptical about the truthfulness. I called the local IRS office. This call is not from them. It is a scam of some sort. I am not going to call the number to find out what kind of scam. It would be wise of you to not call this number too. I will ignore the call.
