There are at least two options for those bothered by people originating these offensive calls:
1. Go to www.fcc.com and click on the electronic complaint form, filling out each of the entries (takes about two minutes), identifying the date and time of the unwanted call(s), any identifying information from Caller ID ("Unavailable" is a valid entry), your number where the call was received and your name, street and email addresses. The FCC will immediately respond with an email to you, identifying the file number assigned to your complaint. If everyone filed these complaints to the FCC, that deluge will prompt an investigation and likely a fine on the calling party.
2. I followed a recommendation from a comment listed elsewhere on 800Notes, where that person was extremely frustrated over calls from a number different than 360-529-6183 (as the above folks obviously are) and purchased a DIGITONE Call Blocker from www.digitone.com Three features attracted my interest: a) I now can block up to 80 specific telephone numbers, b) This device has "First Ring Supression." meaning that you will not even hear the first ring!!, c) you can block entire area codes, a feature that can be used to block all 800, 866, 877, etc. numbers or those from specific (not toll-free) numbers. There may be other devices available, too. I saw immediate success with the one I purchased.
Silence can be Golden!!
Even so, I regularly report annoying/illegal/robo calls, etc. to the FCC. Now that I also use the DIGITONE device these annoying calls have been greatly reduced in number.
We are on the national do not call list. This is a robo-call. Thet always say "we have important information about your credit card." We receive calls daily. There is no way to get rid of them
A couple of times I stayed on the line and told the "agent" that we are on the do not call list. Or, at least I tried to. They always hang up on me.
How on earth do we get rid of this nuisance! I'm filing a complaint with the FTC, and hope they get sued for a ton of money for breaking the law - and if I figure out a way to file a suit against them, I will. Anything to stop this nuisance. Argghh.
Perhaps we should get together and file a class action law suit. This isn't legitimate. It isn't a way to do business. It's harrassment, pure and simple.
I thought people who broke the law in this way faced fines up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why are we no hearing about fines levied? Isn't it really happening? We're alone out here, I guess.
I have these guys calling me 5 to 6 times a day. Tried calling the number back, no answer. Getting really old. Same crap about lowering my interest rate. I'm calling my phone service to find out if there's anything I can do to stop these harassing calls.
I am on the national do not call list. The are always trying to consolidate my credit cards I receive calls multiple times a day. There is no way to get rid of them because I have even called back and pressed 1 to be removed from their list.
A couple of times I stayed on the line and told the reps that aswered the phone hang up on me everytime I call when I tell them I am on the Federal Do not call list.
Today, I sat on hold and requested that they stop calling because I am on the do not call list otherwise I am going to report them. The guy then told me that the governent isn't going to do anything because they are the government, which is a load of crap! He then proceeded to tell me he was goning to continue to call me back. After I told him that I was going to report him to the govenment, that if he continued to call me I would also report him to the police and file harassment charges, he told me that I must be black and live in the ghetto. I told him to continue with his racist remarks and lied and told him I was recording the conversation. He told me that it can't be held up in court and that I was a stipid black person that lives in the gehetto (yes he had the audacity to repeat it). I then told him that I probably make more money than him (afterall I do work in corporate America and he is a telemarketer).
I have filed 2 reports with the FTC, and these people are still in business.
I have nothing against any telemarketers or any other profession for that matter as long as you are conducting your business legally. I am a very patient and nice person, but this behaivior is intolerable. I think from now on we should press whatever number we are prompeted to push to speak to a rep and record every conversation and report them everytime. There has go to be another number to the FCC that we can call to put a stop to this. Because this is beyond rediculous and sad.
