This got pretty crazy pretty fast! just an fyi to Maggie, most Americans in this economy no longer think they are too good for min wage jobs. My husband and I are both college grads, I've been lucky enough to get a just above min wage job ($10 per hour) but my husband has been trying to get a job for 2 years now!!! He's had 3 min wage or just above jobs that he keeps getting laid off! He puts out at least 50 applications/ resumes a day to office jobs/ clerical, fast food, janitorial, gardening, you name it he's tried it and is constantly turned down because he only speaks english (fluently, he has working knowledge of 2 other languages.) But he's been turned down over and over again because he doesn't speak Mandarin, Russian or Arabic. Now I'm not against immigrants so peoples of other countries, but doesn't it seem unfair? I've been working since I was 16, and both our parents/grandparents etc have been paying into this country for over a century yet when we applied for food stamps because we can barely afford rent AND groceries, we're denied because we're white. It's just not fair.
