I received a call also, telling me to call 360-663-4445. I did call and they were telling me the IRS had a lawsuit against me and that federal agents came to my door to have me sign for a notice and nobody was here. Telling me that I owed thousands of dollars and that they were gonna revoke my license. I was gettting very upset. But I don't stay calm when involving money and no notice through mail. I also kept telling them to give me someone who spoke English, went through three people with broken English. Finally got really peaved and said I was calling a lawyer and my accountant. I was happy to see this site. Made me feel better that I don't owe thousands of dollars. I looked up phone number and as far as I got with the # above was, its a landline in Seattle, WA.
Calling me, telling that they are IRS and leaving a message for me to call back to 360 663 4445 urgently. Is it really an IRS number or another scam?
Tried to call the number, they keep asking personal info such as SS#, i had to hang up before i find out who is really behinfd this number.
There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.
USA tax payers should read this:

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

This scam is also described as scam #11, here:
