its really sad that people fall for these cams. i got a call from my mothers so frantic saying that she owed the IRS back taxes on her house that has been exempt from taxes for the last 17 years with the city we live in. she thought it was real i had to calm her down. she normally doesnt answer the phone when she doesnt recognize the number on the ID but they left this recorded message that scared her. i wish there was some sort of repercussions for these people but like everything else in this country, the scammers will go free while the good citizens fo the USA get trampled over by our government.
IRS scam. Says it's the IRS and they are filing a lawsuit. Robocall gives number to call. (Yes, I knew it was a scam the moment the recording said it was the IRS.) Called back. Dude with heavy Indian accent answered "I R S" Asked him why he called. Apparently he couldn't match the CID from the generic GoogleVoice number to the landline digits in their spool. He then alternated between denying he called me, and that he "is THE I R S" and he is filing a lawsuit. Finally hungup on me after I demanded he tell me the full name and address he thinks mine are.
I suspect that if you call back from the number they rang you on, they'll have a "case file" containing whatever your telco directory listing, or scraped-from-your-business-website shows.
WHATEVER YOU DO, *UNDER ABSOLUTELY NO CIRCUMSTANCES* MUST YOU CONFIRM ANY INFORMATION THEY HAVE. And, *ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY or provide any information...especially banking information.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
First call from these MORONS today. Didn't answer and they left a message. IRS and a lawsuit. Yeah right! Female without an accent. Anything to make money without working! Lazy sleaze balls!
They tried the same thing with me on September 9, 2015. They knew of my home address and demanded, a payment of $5,800 in back taxes, from 2008 / 2014. I told them if they wanted to sue for back taxes, being the IRS come on with it or F*** Off.
