To top it all off my provider (Optimum Voice) SAYS I can block unknown callers which I have done, yet I STILL get calls with the Caller Id listed at Anonymous, Unknown or Out Of Area with NO number displayed and they get right through. You are right too that the Do Not Call list is a joke. When you try to file a complaint it says right on the FTC website that they will NOT investigate your complaint. Instead they will simply add it to their database in case they ever decide to prosecute. I have reported one number over and over and they do nothing so why should any company worry? I am convinced that some companies are using the Do Not Call list as their DO Call list.
Recorded message wanting to know if I was "still" looking for an medical insurance provider. I NEVER was looking for such nor would I accept any "offer" from a phone solicitation. The caller ID said "FRAUD CALL" so obviously somewhere along the way someone wasn't smart enough to use a spoofed phone number that hadn't already been identified as a scammer.
