I received a call from 386-310-0013, someone with the name of Jonathan with a company called Home Security Center. We are on the Do Not Call list, so should receive no solicitation calls from businesses. I've reported such calls in the past, but it seems that nothing is done to stop them. Is the Do Not Call list just a paper tiger with no teeth?
It's some company selling bogus warranties and/or bogus security systems. Don't answer the call, but when it's done call it back and you should get the option to be removed from their call list. If you get a person, complain at them, and tell them if they keep calling and harassing you you'll seek legal action, and they'll never call you again.
Checked with Caller Complaints website and they indicate that this is a 'spoofed number'. Typical scam artist modus operandi.
Stating that you are on the DNC list does nothing for these type of calls. The DNC only works with legitimate companies. It means nothing to 'Rachel from card services, free cruise to the Bahamas, et al' scams.
I firmly believe that the genie is out of the bottle and we better learn to live wtih this intrusion into our lives. As long as big money is in play, telcos will continue to sell huge blocks of phone numbers to both U.S. and foreign scam artists.
Just stay calm, ignore and/or buy the best call blocker that works with your provider.
