Also received this today as a Push message, as did my sister yesterday - we're both Vodafone. Long url with a .net domain. Typed the url into my PC's browser - lo and behold. It's porn. Delete - case closed.
the "geeky" lettering is there for the same reason as in e.mails. It will contain an identifying number or 'code' specific to your phone. By clicking the link, or even typing it into a browser, you are basically saying "i'm here". So i wouldn't 'test' it like that.
