Lawsuits target Missouri firm
Among the likely culprits are a group of auto-warranty service companies in Missouri, particularly National Auto Warranty Services, also known as Dealer Services, at 100 Mall Parkway in Wentzville, Mo., according to the Better Business Bureau.
The company was sued this year by Verizon Wireless for being behind an "an illegal telemarketing campaign," according to court documents. Florida-based Explicit Media Inc. was also named in the suit, filed July 14 in federal court in New Jersey.
Verizon said the companies are responsible for nearly 3 million unsolicited calls to Verizon subscribers throughout the country, made in violation of Federal Trade Commission telemarketing regulations as well as the Do Not Call registry law.
The companies used "spoofing," a method of masking information, to hide outgoing call numbers, a violation of the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act, court documents said.
Anyone want a psuedo-success story? I answered this call and spoke to an agent that already had all of my information (address, phone, family names). They did not, however, know what kind of car I owned. I stated a car that I knew no longer had any chance of a warranty and was told that I only need to pay $2500 for a 5 year plan. (This is where it gets good)
I asked for proof of the company by mail and was told sure. Then I asked for a manager to speak to me for re-assurance before I wrote a check. The "manager" picked up after 5 or 6 minutes and I continued the escapade.
I asked, "I do not have credit card so where do I mail check?" I was told credit only...LOL.
I told this "manager to take me off their calling list and he replied that he would call every 10 minutes now and followed it with swears and time wasting stuff that made his office light up with joy. I saved someone for a day at least. I racked up 15 min before they got wind that I was scamming a scammer.
Just be prepared to accept threats about your mother.
This was the best call ever!!!!

This call came into a phone at work. I didn't press 1 nor 2 as prompted and the call quickly disconnected. I immediately went online to see what hits I could find. It appears to be a possible scam as I suspected. Wish these types of calls would stop.
I first heard of court action from my college son before the DO NOT CALL LIST was approved. A professor took companies to court and recieved about $3000; each. Now my son tells me DO NOT CALL hold all the complaints for us to file a lawsuit. This number is from Datona Florida. Does anyone know the company? If so I would like to file a suit in my local court for harrassment. I also informed a person of pending suit if further calls continued. Remember each call is worth $11,500, the only question is will the court grant the amount. This is the only company that continues to call and harasse me. Anyone work for the phone company and can get the name and address of the company?
