Called early am asking for someone other than me. Hung up...another annoying idiot with nothing else to do but bother people while they are getting ready for their real job.
Same situation. 401-285-0224 caller ID Pascoag RI. Breast Cancer wants my credit card number. Legit organizations have their name in the caller ID. Scammers who spoof numbers show the nothing. Any number in any area code can be obtained. Blocked this number.
Have been getting several calls a day from this number. Finding more and more telemarketers spoofing your area code to try to get you to answer. I didn't answer and have now blocked the number. Ugh!
Alternatively the beggar caller controls a VOIP number, and cheaply. Yes, it's assigned to Bandwidth as a "landline", but all the Neutral Tandem numbers (also favored by certain fundraisers) show the same, and that is a known VOIP CLEC.
This irritant rang bright and early today after 08:00 and abandoned the call two seconds after my verbal response. Not at all what the FTC wants to happen. I'm supposed to be transferred to a live agent, not dumped because the predictive dialer is cranked up too high. Pukes can't be bothered to put the state in their generic Caller ID, sending only the town name "Pascoag". Nobody gets anything important from Pascoag. It may as well read "Mudlump Missouri" or "Drainpipe Delaware".
I've had a recent rash of "hero charity -slash- breast cancer" calls abusing Rhody numbers. I suspect this one to be related to the "Lisa Kent" soundboard gang and possibly the work of commercial fundraiser Community Cares. The call abandonment is not making investigation easy. When I'm sure of a target, someone will be getting a grumpy "get lost" letter by Certified Mail.
