Received a call from this number @ 5:00 PM on a Saturday. I let the answer machine get it and they said hello while the message was playing and then hung up.
Just got a call from 401-401-0401. Caller said we had won something from GE, said another person would call shortly to confirm. Someone did call again in several minutes. They were trying to push alarm systems; I'm sure that GE has nothing to do with it, except that GE might have manufactured the components. I said to send information in writing; they wanted to use email; I said No, use US Mail. They said OK, but I doubt that we'll get anything in the mail, because fraud (if it occurs) using the US Mail is a federal offence. NOTE: Always beware if someone wants to give or sell you something or get a contribution from you and they don't want to use the US Postal Service! They'll come up with all kinds of excuses to use UPS, FedEx, stop by your house, whatever, to avoid US Mail. BTW, we're on the federal Do Not Call list, so the callers today already violated federal law by calling in the first place.
They've called my house a number of times. The first time, they asked if I had a smoke alarm. When I asked them to identify themselves, they hung up! I checked with my alarm company and it was no connection with them. An attempt to redail the number failed.
