Got a call from them money for some out state police fund, when they were informed someone called the previous week from a local police fund. They became rude and oh the customers always right and hung up. Scammers all of them just sick of it.
I have received calls (not from this number as of now, but who knows?) from other numbers (which I do not answer but google the numbers and they are always a scam number calling) who also claim to be collecting for the police departments. I have called both my local precinct and also the state troopers and they do not, I repeat, do not call for monetary donations. If anything, you would receive a mailing (I do from my local PBA) requesting donations. If you think it is a scam, call your local precinct and verify with them on their donation policies, if they do have them at all.
Our local volunteer fire departments do not call either for donations. Once a year, the annual fund raising donation forms are mailed to the residents. Some departments will mail a second request if they do not receive anything, others will go door to door. Again, if there is any question as to the validity of a request for a donation, call your local fire department to verify.
