I'm one of the people who call you guys. It is an error with the computer system, because we use a dialer that calls out for us. What it's been doing is hanging up on people when they answer.
The call isn't a scam, and ECW your husband probably did take the survey. Your number doesn't get into the database unless somebody from the household participated in the survey at one point or another. But it could have been 6 months prior to the phone call, and the survey wasn't online, it was over the phone. It also lasted about 2 minutes at the most so it'd make sense if he wouldn't remember.
Also, they didn't tell you that you won anything. There was no contest involved, and I can guarantee you that everybody who works in the office knows not to say the word "win". There's actually no scam, it's a legitimit company. Free system, free installation, then you pay like 30-35 bucks a month for the monitoring.
If you want the calls to stop, your best bet is to answer the phone, and if somebody IS on the other end, politely listen to what they have to say. Hell, you may be able to benefit from the system. If you get somebody and just say "not interested" and hang up, you're going to get another call. Thats just the way it is...
They called for the 3rd time today. I actually got a person. I told her they call constantly, etc and that the number is here, with complaints. She was a little flustered and said it must be the new computer system and was an error.
She told me that my husband filled out an online survey about home security (he did not) and that he gave his phone number. Then she told us that we won a home security system. I tried to express that I didn't trust a thing she said and wanted them to stop calling but she didn't seem to get it. I think I was too polite.
Anyhow, she did say a company name but it was garbled and I didn't have the presence of mind to get her to repeat it.
