I tried to call back...the line is busy, I hope no one falls for this garbage.
Please warn any eldely people you know not to pick up the phone. This crook has a foreign accent - here is the meesage left on my home phone today.
"This will be an (intentional?) 2nd attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal offense. My number is 732-226-7545. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."
HANG UP...I like to call them back and screw with them a little.
Multiple recorded calls from this number yesterday, some just minutes apart. On my voice mail, it was the same recorded message -- second attempt to contact, federal investigation, must reply or be called before a grand jury or some such nonsense. Heavily accented voice, had trouble pronouncing "v". Started again this morning, same number, same recorded message. Had a different number to call back, by the way. Called the number on my caller ID and there was an answer. Before the person got past hello, I told him to NOT CALL BACK, there was no federal investigation, there was no grand jury, stop calling and hung up.
Repeated attempts to call my home phone from this number. Once when I called back the person said he is David Williams from IRS and he is holding some legal action orders against me etc. These con artists google IRS officers names and they use their names I think. I hung up and there were couple of more attempts after that. No voice mails left by this person.
IRS scammer, said this was 2nd notification and that I owed them money and if I didn't call him back I might have to go before a magistrate. Very heavy accent.
