Caller from Providence, RI. I don't waste time on callers I don't know. It appears this is a Google imposter. I get these calls all the time. I just ignore them.
Just got a call from this number (401-490-7465). I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. If it's important enough, they can leave a message... My home phone number used to be a business number, and although I still run the business from my home, I changed it back to a residential number several years ago. When I'm not at home, as much of my business takes me elsewhere, I forward the home number to my cell phone and that way, don't have to give out my cell phone number, and can still get business calls.
Now, the main reason for my message - I've discovered a great app, available through Google Play Store (and probably some of the others) called Call Control. I started out with the free version with limited number-blocking capability, but it worked so well, I purchased Call Control Pro for between $7 and $8 (if I remember correctly) with unlimited number blocking capability, along with some other benefits. It's great! I just add any number from an unwanted source to the list, and it never bothers me! Every day, I check the blocked call log to see what numbers have tried to call. It works so well, I've started leaving my home phone forwarded all day, every day. I unforward at night in case of a family emergency, or other important call. I highly recommend Call Control for anyone with a smart phone, and/or call forwarding capabilities on a landline.
DO NOT ANSWER AND DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. You are just verifying that the number is a good one. Check the number here and block it on you phone. I put it in with the date. "scam 3-2-13," next time I get it I add a date 3-10-13, When the calls stop coming I can delete that listing t make room for other numbers. Reporting it is absolutely a waste of your time. Most come from outside the USA and are not covered by any of our laws.
