One of the posts above indicates it may be the Microsoft tech scam. Most of these calls are actually coming out of India and Pakistan. Not much anyone can do to stop those calls. Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Answered, heard someone, but no response to my 'HELLO".

Received call from 401-859-0293, caller was a lady who spoke English very well.  She asked to speak to me by name.  Lady stated that my Stopzilla anti-virus soft ware needed to be updated.  When I told her my software updates its self she stated that now it has to be done manually; because Stopzill has been bought out and that her company has been contracted to do the updating of the software manually. I asked her how was she going to do this manually, and was told that I needed to turn on my computer so that the tech could log on and update the software.

I asked her which Stopzilla program and version was she going to update, I was told that their company updates all stopzilla programs and version. I told her she misunderstood what I was asking, I wanted to know which program and version was going to be updated on my computer since she knew when I bought the program.

The lady said the tech would know when he logged on, or if I did not believe her they could send a tech to my home. Told the lady thanks but no thanks and hung up.  Called Stopzilla and was told they had not been bought out.
