Caller ID showed "Dis police fd"
My wife picked it up after seeing police. The caller said asked for me and then he started his fast, non stop pitch for a donation. My wife tried to interrupt him to say no, but he kept ongoing....until she hung up.
The number has now been added to our call block list!
We just got this call too, and answered because it said "police". It has to be a recording..it asked for my mother, then in the middle of the spiel it interrupted itself and started over! You can't interrupt it because there is no human at the other end!
Just got a call wanting me to donate to disabled police officers. Told them to call back when the bread winner is home this afternoon, I dont make any financial decisions. then he insisted he send a pledge card out for 25 dollars because Obviously I care about the cause AND it is Tax deductable. who do I know in Nebraska... ABSOLUTELY NO ONE! I told him if he wanted to send out a pledge card that I would make sure my husband got it, but I couldnt be sure if he would shred it or pledge. so again I repeated to him, Call back later this afternoon when the bread winner is home from work and you can speak with him directly.
Ask them what percentage they actually give to the cause. You have to be persistent because they don't want to admit it's less than 15 percent! I could go to my local police department, give them four dollars, and STILL make a bigger donation than giving these guys 25 bucks! Save your money for a REAL charity.
