You seem to be overly optimistic.
If the call was from a spammer (as previously posted), all you did was verify your phone was "live", and a live person answered it.
I received a call from "Dealer Process Department" regarding an offer for a warranty on my vehicle; a follow up to several deceptive mailed offers. The caller hung up when I stated the first questions should be whether now is a good time to speak and second if I am interested in the offer instead of asking how many miles the vehicle has. I attempted to call the number back in under a minute and the recording said the number is not in service. I tried the same number from another phone and received a busy signal.
Called my cell at 2:20 PM. They hung up as soon as I answered. I tried to call back and got a "number out of service" message. Obvious scam. I blocked them.
