Just got a call from this number telling me they need a call back today or a case will be filed against me. SCAM!! SCAM!!! SCAM!! They are a scum bag, bottom feeding, old pay day loan bill collector. IGNORE_IGNORE_IGNORE...
I got a call from a very similar number a month back and a lady spoke with me about getting served papers for court, and if I did not comply, she was going to have defense attorneys sign off on a warrant for my arrest. I got a call from this n7mber a few minutes ago, and a lady left a partial message. The lady sounds exactly like the one that called me last month, and it was about the same dumb thing. First of all, she gave me her name (McNair), secondly, defense attorneys don't sign off on warrants without personally speaking with me, nor showing me anything that deems service of papers to me. Last time this happened, I went to my county court clerk to tell them about these "so-called" papers. The court clerk said it was a scam cuz they asked me to deposit money to shut or postpone the papers and to let the lady know, if she called again, that my court wants to see those papers first. That's when the lady told me she'd have the attorneys sign off on them and hang up before I even got anymore words out.
Call blocker helps. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID.
There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated unless you know their address and can send them a cease and desist letter that they will respect.
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
Total scam. Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. "Warrant" scam:
An arrest warrant is only issued by a judge (or magistrate) in your local area. it authorizes law enforcement to arrest the person named in the warrant for a specific crime. Warrants are applied for by law enforcement and are only served in hand by duly constituted officers of the law. Judges do not issue warrants to debt collectors. Private attorneys have nothing to do with warrants. Warrants are issued by judges only.
The court clerk is absolutely right. This is a total debt collection scam from the world "go". Ignore these people and block their calls.
