They get information from the papers that come from the debt they are trying to collect. The papers could include info such as social security numbers. With social security numbers, they can find out just about anything about you. That's one of the reasons ABC did the expose. When a company sells debt, they sell very sensitive information that comes along with the debt papers, and that info can get into the hands of dubious people.
I received a call from these people today. They need to be prosecuted for misrepresenting themselves. They make you think that they are the federal government investigating a crime. They use words like chief investigator, mitigigation to scare you. we have to do something. If I indeed owe these people its from 2005 are you serious. WTH
CRAP! I really wish that I would have found this site a couple weeks ago. I got a call from this investigator I thought she said Binton but I guess it could be Bolton. Anyways she told me about a payday loan that had not been paid from a few years ago and I owe $1400. Now I will admit that I did have one back in 2007 which she said but I thought that it had been paid. She had told me that it wasn't and all that stuff about how they were going to take me to jail and revoke my license. She said the only way that she could get it so that all of that wouldn't happen was if I could go ahead and make a payment of $200 - which of course I did. I had been receiving multiple calls from this lady before I actually talked to her but I could find nothing about it online and figured that I better go ahead and talk to her if she called back. What do I do now?
Ok glad i looked this up. Have gotten several hangup calls from them. I have never taken out a payday loan. Anything I might owe is over 12 years ago. I think they are just another scavenger collection agency out to abuse people. Just won't ever answer phone. Good luck to anyone who has to deal with these people.
This number belongs to Mauconduit, Luna & Associates. A rep named "Mr. Scott" called and harrassed my father saying I was facing fraud and theft of service charges. My dad called me & gave me the #, I called Mr. Scott he played the part of an attourney and threatened me with the same BS, named a debt to a paday loan that i couldnt have taken out because the date he said it was taken I was in basic training in the NAVY. I reported all the info to the FB I anyone else who gets such a call should do the same
