Got a call from "inspector Bolton" about some debt related to a person who I don't know. Said it was "check fraud" and would report it to the local county authorities (out of state) - not possible legally. Found out the company is Mauconduit Luna. The number they left is traced to some residential address. Not sure how they are doing this. Told them to stop calling.

First received a call from this number on 10/27/2010. Woman left a message for a Mrs. Amanda Randolf stating that she was investigating fraud and that she would be filing her report later that week. Out of concern for whoever Mrs. Randalf might be, I called back to notify the woman that she had the wrong number and that the person she was investigating is still in the dark about it.

Received another call from this number on 11/08/2010. This time I answered right away. The same woman again asked if I was Mrs. Randolf and again I said no and told her she had the wrong number. I told her that this was the second time she called me and that she needs to take better notes of the calls she makes and that I don't want her to call again. She insisted on verifying so she rattled off the last 4 digits of Mrs. Randolf's social security number and I assured her that was not even close to my SSN. She seemed a bit frustrated so I wished her luck in locating the person she is investigating and said goodbye.

I received another call from the same woman again today 11/16/2010. She asked for Amanda Randolf and when I said that was not me she asked if I went by the alias of Amanda ******** (my maiden name). I was taken aback a bit then told her that was indeed my maiden name but that my name has never been Randolf and that she most certainly has the wrong number. She started to ask to verify my social so I stopped her and told her that this was the third time I've told her that I am not, nor do I know, Mrs. Randolf and that I would appreciate it if she would stop calling me. She says, "Well the joke's on you, because I have never called you before." Then she hung up on me.

I'm certain this is a scam trying to fish for identifying info to steal people's identities.

If anyone has information on who I should report this to so that this woman stops fishing for personal info, please reply to this post. Thank you.

Just found out that the firm is Mauconduit Luna. They are a questionable debt collector firm in Atlanta. Whatever you do, do NOT give them or verify any part of your social security number. And don't bother calling them back long distance - their number is:

Manconduit & Luna
P.O. Box 162955
Atlanta, GA 30321

PHONE (877) 385-1667
FAX (678) 815-1547

They list themselves as an accounting services firms and legal processing firm. They told me that they are a "mediation firm." They are not a law firm, and it seems they've misrepresented themselves to alot of people. By the way, the Chief Inspector/Investigator tiles are bogus - they are collection agents/workers for this dubious company. If they insist on calling, file a complaint with the attorney general's office, or to the following:

The following information as to how to file an expedited complaint with the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs was extracted from: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-781-3445/4:

send a statement via USPS to
Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs
2 Martin Luther King Drive, SE, Suite 356
Atlanta, Georgia 30334-4600
or fax to 404-651-9018

Describe your contact with this company and their practices. Use the form located at: http://www.georgia.gov/vgn/images/portal/cit_ ... mplaintform.pdf for expedited processing by their office.  It's extremely important to their case to include in your statement if the phone representative claimed to be an attorney, claimed that the firm is a law firm or alluded to the firm being a law firm or having lawyers on staff or something about a  network of attorneys that work for their firm. Also end your statement with the line below:

I respectfully request that the firm Mauconduit & Luna be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law pursuant to 15 USC §§ 1692 § 814 and State laws regarding Fair Debt Collection Credit Practices.

I received a call from an investigator Bolton about 2 weeks ago, informing me that I was going to have fraud charges brought against me in my home town. I was a little weiry since she said I had a sister that doesn't exist. She was very pushy and made me feel very uncomfortable that if I did not give her the money that I would have some serious issues. So me trying to be the responsible adult I did a transaction over the phone for 200!!! WE are fighting it right now to try and get it back. The lady called me again today with the same threatening phone calls. Once they sink their teeth in the don't stop!! So just be weary of Investigator Bolton!!

Am glad I found this. Received a phone call from this "law firm" stating they were going to sue me for a debt from 2007.  That they were a law firm, the debt had already been to collections and they were the final step. That I could settle with them now and avoid court. They went from wanting 1250 to 650 but I had to pay by Friday, the end of the month. My husband eventually took the phone asked for written proof, rattled off our address and hung up. He called back asking for our address.  I later called him back stating that the debt he was trying to collect on was never shown on my credit and that I wanted written proof of the original debt for the original amouth. They dropped their settlement price again, were very haraassing and said they would fax or email or a settlement letter.  I said that was fine but I aslo wanted a written letter mailed to me with information on their law firm and information on the original debt. They got very aggitated and stating I could not delegated what I wanted and that I was not trying to repay my debt and the phone call was over. I then said that I was trying to take care of my debts but wanted proof.  He said he didn't have that but would contact the original creditor and call me next week.
I have also been told, at least in my state, they could not sue me based out of state..
