These are all excellent tactics, but I'd like to add one that is free, lots of fun, and ultimately will get to the problem's root cause. We all need to cost these folks time, money and make their business model unprofitable. If enough folks punk them by taking up lots of their time by sounding like a sucker (you can REALLY get good at this with some practice...), at some point, they would start hanging up on actual marks thinking they are punkers. At this point their business tactics (disregarding the DNCR) become impossible to maintain and they might move on to more wholesome activities...
BTW, remember that a lot of these calls originate overseas, and so are immune from prosecution in the U.S.A.. However, hurting them in their bottom line is still VERY possible...
half a dozen calls from these crooks.Call ID displays Atlanta GA .I usually let my call block phone block them. I decided to answer this time. "some lady recording states"this is your final offer to lower your credit card interest." press 1. I did then was told I was #18 in the cue, then #6, then a Moron answered.. sounded like a white male so this scam might really be in USAd. Still likely a spoofed location and #. I said " hello", the guy said "do you have over 2 thousand in credit card debt?" "Yes" I lied, I do not carry CCdebt but do have a card. I asked him "i wnt to know the name of your company?" He said we are Credit Card services/" I said "That is not the name of my card, you guys are liars,crooks, and scammers and you will be hanging up and trying to scam someone else, but I have enjoyed calling you out for the crook you are!!!" He hung up at that point. These guys are total toolbags.
