Received an email from our site with very poor English. The person's email address was
[email protected] (but is displayed as 'lucky yakubu'. 'Lucky' was interested in $2300 of our products and wanted to know what type of paymement we accepted (which is clearly stated on our website).
Decided to play along 'just in case' it could be a legit sale...
I tell 'Lucky' to send us the zip code to where the product will be shipped and that we accept credit cards, etc - and invited him to call so we could assist him with his order.
According to our call logs he called three times from this number. One right after the other. Unfortunately (or fortunately) everyone was on the phone and he did not leave a voicemail.
So we get another email from him -
Actually i would send this units to a new Orphanage in Ghana and i would like you to have the delivery address below:
Mrs Sarah Addo
Hope Orphanage Home
57 Liberty Rd
2354 Accra-Ghana
00233
And i would like to proceed on payment by sending you all credit card details now.
And i would recommend you to this freight company that do door to door delivery and their contact is
[email protected] .
Email them for the shipping charges and get back to me so we can proceed on payment.Thank you and waiting your reply ASAP.
My response to him :)
Greetings,
Unfortunately we don't ship outside the United States.
In fact, based on the information you've provided, we will require payment in advance by cashier's check and an address in the United States. The chairs would ship once the bank has verified and cleared funds.
Sorry, so many scams coming out of Africa.
Let us know a zip code in the United States and we'll continue this conversation.

Haven't heard back...
