I received a call from this number (404-410-2396) today and the lady said she was a Microsoft support person and there was a virus reported from my computer. I wasn't at home so she called back later when I was and asked me to get onto my computer. She wanted me to "run" something or remote into my computer so she could show me the corrupted files and how to remove them. I hung up and my friend from IT at work confirmed it is a SCAM...checks out on Snopes http://snopes.com/fraud/telephone/microsoft.asp
I just received a call from this Indian man from Georgia at the 404-410-2396. he stated he was a Microsoft Technician and then threw in the IRS. I asked why the IRS was so interested in my computer, and why Microsoft was calling me, he then stated that he did not work for Microsoft. I kept asking him questions and then telling him that he was trying to get into my computer to steal my identity. I told him that my husband is a IT guy, if I needed my computer cleaned, he would clean it for me, if he were legit, he would give me his name, number of Microsoft, etc, for me to call and check his identity. Of coarse, he could not give me that. I fouled him up so, he changed his story. I called him on his lie, when he said that I had called him. I wished him well, in that, every call he made today, he would have no luck at all, that people like him are horrible to hurt other people. He called on my cell phone, you can block numbers on the cell phone.
