Calling about purchasing an extended warranty for a Toyota Prius that I own. Didn't get the name of the company because when I stopped him short and told him I wouldn't be interested, he hung up without saying another word.
I was called regarding my vehicle that was being repaired. I don't have a vehicle in for repairs! They hung up before I could. They do have a "do not call" feature if you call them back.
Caller ID must give adequate information. The company name must be displayed. As well, caller must identify themselves. If the call is automated, it is illegal and most likely a scam.
Telemarketing scams are on the rise. Never give out personal information over the phone. Not full name, not address and definetly not personal infromation like credit card/banking and social security information.
When in doubt, if THEY call you, then rest assured it is a scam. If you need any type of service YOU call them and whatever number that shows up on your caller ID would be a returned recognized caller.
Be smart folks. Criminals are desperate and relentless and everywhere! Be safe!
Keep in mind that these criminals have used a similar number for credit card interest rates 404-418-8919. Ignore the call, dont bother blocking they will use another fake number. Warn others about the scam and ignore. Report every call and BEWARE. Telemarketing scams are on the rise.
