Saw this number as a missed call and of course ran a Google Search and figured there would be something about the number here. My guess is that yet another lowlife debt collector resorting to scanning the phone books in order to find someone that owes them money whose first name starts with the initial our phone number is listed under.
Ditto here. I was out of the country doing volunteer work for over a month. Returned and just started my regular job back. I knew I was going to be late on my payment of a couple of bills Bank of America was EXTREMELY helpful in this area and worked with me. I called 1st financial to let them know asap and see if there was anything they could do. The lady would not even listen to me, gave me the rote speech of "unfortunately, blah blah blah." A week later someone calls me to "let me know" that they have not received payment on my bill that was due three days ago. My response? Um, yeah. I called YOU GUYS and tried to tell YOU that last week!
I am called sometimes up to 10 times a day PER line (cell phone/house). The ONE voicemail I received was from a "Jennifer" -- no location, no reason for a call, no statement that she was FROM ___ or anything. Which, I plan on reporting because by the FDCPA it's ILLEGAL what they are doing:
1.Sect. 806. (15 USC 1692d): Harassment or abuse: Causing a telephone to ring repeatedly 2 - 4 times per day for an extended period of time.
2.Sect. 804. (15 USC 1692b): Acquisition of location information: Not state that a consumer owes a debt. Prohibited use of of language or symbol on any envelope, or in the contents of any communication indicating the communication is from a debt collector. Third party disclosure on an answering machine several times.
They call every 15 minutes. Sometimes leave a message, sometimes they don't. It's 1FBUSA. I talked to a pro bono lawyer who told me just to ignore their calls and pay when I can. He said the most important things to pay are my utilities and to put food on the table. Also, don't get pressured into payment arrangements that you can't afford. They use several call centers and don't coordinate their records. Like some of the people above I want to pay my bills, but after over 25k in emergency medical expenses we had to use the card. Oh, and don't give them a reason for why you can't pay. First, it's none of their business, and second, they won't care anyway. One of the jerks told me to sell a kidney to pay off my bill.
I get calls from these people constantly it starts at 7:30 am (which is illegal in SC) and they don't stop until 9:00 pm. What makes me angry is they have like 5 different numbers they call from and none will tell me who they are and what they want. I do get this automated voice mail telling me to contact First Financial USA today but no reason why. What makes it so bad this was on a debt I had six years ago.
