They called me today from this number claiming to be HP support and that my computer has been hacked and has viruses on it. Very thick middle eastern accent and difficult to understand them. I told him to call me back later in the day and he said he would. In the meantime I contacted the actual HP support through chat on my computer and gave them the info and telephone number that called me. The agent said that it was legitimate and that they would call me back. I waited till the time they were supposed to call back and never recieved a call so I contacted HP support again through chat and this new agent said that it was not legitimate and for me not to entertain calls like that, that there is no way for them to know if my computer has been hacked or has viruses on it that would prompt a call from them. Very annoyed with the whole situation and the ineptitude of the actual (real?) reps that I spoke with. Not the first time that I have had bad experiences with HP support though. :/
I play with them as long as I can. Take 20 minutes to get upstairs ( I tell em I only have 1 leg) then I tell em I thought they meant my tv, then another 20 min going downstairs, oops, have to plug it back into the wall, and get them very frustrated. Just don't hold the flag and R key. They try to get you to type in the box, then they can take over your computer and ask you to pay them to fix it. This is where I cuss them out and tell them I/m a supervisor for HP! Have fun with them.
I got a call with the person saying he was calling about my (brand) of computer. He then asked me - in a very think, hard to understand foreign accent - to confirm that my email was (my email address). I wasn't sure what he said so hesitantly responded "yes?" and the line went dead. I'm very disgusted because I was stupid enough to respond and now they have my phone and email address linked. I'm very disgusted.
Got two calls from the number right in a row. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I do have a step-sister in Georgia but we aren't close (she was grown and in another state when my mother married her father) but I think she would have left a message. I googled the number and looked in up on the White Pages app and, while it didn't find a name, I did see the other complaints, so I am confident that this is just a scam.
