I just got a phone call saying it was from the Microsoft securities or technical department saying that my computer had been hacked into. The phone number that they called from was 646 583 2215. The phone number they told me to call back was 404 496 5152. I wasn't at my computer so they told me to call them back.
I just received the exact same call with the exact same info. Did anyone find out if this call was legitimate? He recited my bank information and home address too me. Kinda worries me.
I received a call today saying that they were from Microsoft and someone had my IP address and were doing illegal things with it and I was going to get into trouble if they couldn't prove it wasn't me doing it. They said I needed to open my computer right away and they would show me where to find the information the illegal people were doing. Caller was named "Nick Smith". I wasn't at my computer so they told me to call back or they would call me tomorrow. When I told them I would be home until after 5 or 6pm PST they said that was too late for them. Thinking it is a scam because if it was really Microsoft they would still be open. Sounded fishy all the way around if you ask me. It still worries me that they had my name and phone number.
I just got this same exact call, I didn't give them any information. I asked what IP address they showed so I'm going to see if it matches my computer. But they didn't say anything about knowing my personal information.... its got to be a scam. I hope!
