Just called, "Unavailable" but what the heck, the day before Thanksgiving and the calls are coming in, so I answered this one, heard a beep or blip, so I called back and was informed that I had the chance to win a $50 gift certificate for one of three or four stores if I would only answer some survey questions and agree to be called back depending on my answers to the survey. Rules were said to be viewable at RewardRedemptions.com, which includes no such thing in it's one little window that opens if you click Privacy Policies or whatever it says.
I wanted to be sure I had the website right so I called back from the same number but the message this time was different, no longer identifying a website and ending with the chance to be put on their do not call list. I took that option.
The website and the geographical address it provides is the front for a long list of companies, but not "co," "ltd" instead, indicating that they are in a British or former British country.
Despite following their procedure six days ago for being put on their DNC list (see previous entry), I got another call just now. Answered, got only a beep.
I called back from the number they called, with my Caller ID provided, and this time the message I got was a prerecorded female voice saying. "Number blocked." No more cheery explanation as I had gotten on the first callback last week.
I blocked the number.
One thing I'm trying to figure out is how their algorithms or practices are set up. Since I called 6 days ago they already knew this number was valid, so calling back today could not have been a test for whether the number is "live."
Even if they wanted to use it for further scams and marketing, there would still be no reason to validate the number as legit.
So I expect I'll be on a few more call lists now, since they obviously are not exactly logical.
404-566-5409 is a scammer. This is a robo-dialer and automated dialers are scammers. An unknown number with a 4 second voicemail. NO MESSAGE calling my number multiple times daily and weekly is nothing but a scammer or a telemarketer with ZERO ETHICS and there are many thousands out there. Scammers are criminals and frauds and DO NOT OBEY LAWS. These are spoofed numbers that lead nowhere or an exchange number (one legitimate number dials out and their number is hidden and the number on your caller id is fake - yes technology is available to do this) - DO NOT CALL this number back to be removed from their 'list' all that does is verify you are a real and active number and then your number gets sold to other scam artists. Don't bother to waste your time reporting this number to any government agency or the DO-NOT-CALL-LIST because YOUR TIME is precious and this number will most likely be disconnected soon as the scammer will keep moving around to different numbers to avoid the law. Install a good blocker on your phone so white listed numbers ring through and all other numbers go to voicemail. When YOU have time you can check your voicemail or the number. If you want to report the number here and maybe someday some legislation can be passed to rid these scum from the earth but it does nothing more than to alert others of the scammer. ALSO DO NOT PICK UP on numbers you do not recognize because this only adds your number to more scammers lists. ALWAYS REMEMBER EVERY legitimate business leaves a message and you most likely you already have the people and businesses you know in your contact list and even if not in your contact list their name/business is on the caller id. I just got a call from 1-404-566-5409 and nothing happened? No one was there? No message, voice nothing? 1-27-2015 And to add only my family, doctor have my number.
