This number just called my home number. Caller id came up fraud division so I thought it might be some sort of credit card issue.. Recorded message from some guy saying either me or my attorney needed to call him asap in regard to check fraud. I called the number back and it said u have reached Sean ...music then his voicemail. I hung up. Probably screening his calls. Well low and behold -'not 2'seconds later the guy calls back. And tells me that he is looking for me in regard to check fraud with advance America. I told him I never heard of them. He asked me if what he had was the last 4 of my social. I would not confirm it. I told him the name of my attorney and he can call them or send them any information. he asked if I banked with commerce bank - it hasn't been commerce bank for almost 10 years! I am so sick of these scams!!
p.s. I googled advance America scam. I found their website and there is information on the web site about the scam! I called them this morning and told the representative about the phone call and gave her the number they called from. She said they have had a number of calls complaining about calls from this number. She said they are working with the attorney general and fbi to stop these scammers. If they call u tell them this., do not give them any information- just hang up.
My husband got a call from 404-645-7337 for me. He was concerned since they used my previous last name and said it was about "Check Fraud". So I called them from a business phone# they did not have in their database system. The guy "Sean" was more upset because I didn't call him from the number they called me at than actually trying to figure out who I was. I asked several times for the company name but didn't get it. The reason I know they used HSBC was because they told my husband. BTW was not my husband when I have this account. This account has been closed for 6 years. I told him that I wanted to know if they were trying to sell me something? or what, he said no they were investigating check fraud and if I could provide them my information that would be helpful. I said not unless you tell me who you are first, and they declined and said a smart remark like good luck then. HAAAA that's what I say to them...
"Sean" left a message about check fraud, it is definitely a scam. Hey Sean, if you read this, learn to talk, it sounds like you have food in your mouth, talk like you got a pair.
