This morning, my parents received a phone call at their house asking for me, except I haven't lived there in the last 6 years! I also do not currently have health insurance and am on no medications, and they wanted to talk to me about "updating my payment method for my delivered prescriptions"...
They hung up when my mother tried to explain that I hadn't lived there in quite some time. The phone number came up in their caller ID as a Wireless Caller.
This outfit tries to obtain your credit card info by convincing you that they are a prescription service from Medicare. The calls originate in a foreign country. This phone number, 404-860-1804, is a "spoofed" number, which means that whoever called you "tricked" your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number. Stop complaining about the Do-Not-Call list not working. It works very well. As with all of society, the honest companies honor the list and the dishonest ones scam the list. It is no different than any other law that the lawless ignore. These people are trying to steal identities, so you think they are going to pay attention to a do-not-call list? Use your brain. Then buy a call-blocker.
Do NOT, under any circumstances, answer a caller you do not recognize. When you do, all you are doing is confirming for them that they have reached a viable, working number and then they WILL call you back, PLUS they will sell your number to other scam artists so they can call you too. You are not "getting" anyone with your siren. A computer made the phone call. These systems call 20 or more numbers at once. When a number is answered, it registers that someone just answered and a scammer may get on the line and try to con you, or the scammer may be busy with another answered line and all you get is silence and a hang-up.......AFTER it registers that you answered and they WILL call you back incessantly.
All you did by answering....and especially by pushing a key....is confirm to them that they have reached a working phone number that gets answered. They will call you back........a LOT.
